Your beginning to see QR codes pop up in Home Depot and Lowe's stores. So why are they initially appearing in the plant and nursery sections of both chains?
The answer could be that it provides shoppers with relevant and actionable information both in-store as well as post-purchase.
First, shoppers can scan the code to get information specific about the plant such as bloom time and lighting requirements and also on what additional items they might need such as tools and fertilizers. This adds value to the in-store shopping experience.
Second, after the shoppers arrive home they can again scan the codes and access additional information such as planting and pruning requirements which are relevant post purchase.
Bottom line, shoppers will seek out those mobile code programs that provide the most relevant and actionable information and walk by those that don't.
